1. Open Windows Terminal (Admin)

To begin, you’ll need to run a command in Windows Terminal:

  • Right-click on the Start menu
  • Select Windows Terminal (Admin)
  • If prompted, click Yes to allow changes to your device

This will open Windows Terminal, which supports PowerShell, Command Prompt, and other command-line tools. By default, it launches PowerShell, which is what we need.

2. Generate the Battery Health Report

How to Check Your Laptop’s Battery Health – In Windows Terminal, type the following command and press Enter:

powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery-report.html"

This command will:
Create a battery report in HTML format
Save the report to the C drive under the filename battery-report.html

Once the report is generated, you can close Windows Terminal.

3. Locate and Open the Battery Report

  • Open File Explorer
  • Click This PC and select OS (C:)
  • Look for battery-report.html
  • Double-click the file to open it in your default web browser
